Avoiding Destruction

 - Dr. Robert Watkins

He that walks with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed. ~ Prov 13:20

Fools are everywhere. There are fools in the educational system, in our religious structures, in the political arenas and even in our families. Why is it dangerous to associate with fools? Scripturally, God gives us 111 reasons why fools are hazardous. Here are my top perilous conclusions:

Fools will break your focus.
Fools will help you make costly mistakes.
If you are not careful, fools can cause you to become a fool.
In 2004, I heard the financial complaints of 10 men. To help avoid destruction in their lives, I invited a Christian billionaire and two wealthy entrepreneurs to specifically speak to their individual circumstances. I called the meeting "Conquer". More than 2,000 people attended. After the conference, I prepared private meetings with the guest speakers to personally speak to the 10 men. However, only three out of the 10 men showed up. The other seven had excuses on "why" they could not attend. The seven continue to struggle today. The other three are prospering in their assignments.

Fools typically don't know they are fools until they reach their later years and examine the trail of broken relationships, wasted time and missed opportunities they have left behind.

Solomon refused to spend time with fools early in his life and he prospered. But later in his life, Solomon allowed foolish relationships to gain access and he lost all that God gave him. A wise man once told me, "If you hang around nine broke people, you will be the tenth one!"

Ask God for wisdom today. Shun every relationship that is not profitable to your vision. He will bring a divine relationship to help you fulfill God's plan.

Post Script: This is your month to turn things around. Make the tough decisions now, take the leap of faith and stick to your plan. People may walk away from you, but prepare for the new ones!
