Nutrition-Power me Up

- Ridgely Goldsborough

Nutrition—Power me UP!!!
(part 2 of 2)

WHOLE FOODS VERSUS SYNTHETIC

Certain types of nutrition will aid us in fighting the effects of age.
If we can’t eat 6 to 8 servings of raw fruits and vegetables, we still need to find a way to get the Recommended Daily Allowance (RDA) of basic vitamins and minerals.
How?
We can go synthetic.

Whole foods mean foods made by nature.
Synthetic means foods made by man.
Nothing will replace whole foods though certain synthetics can help.
Somehow, we need a supplement to replace the lack of fruits and vegetables or to augment our intake for optimum performance.

We can choose to supplement to support the foods we ingest.
We can ingest vitamins, minerals and anti-oxidants in supplement form to help us get what we need.

Is the RDA enough?
A few years ago, we talked not only about RDA but also about MDA—the Minimum Daily Allowance.
MDA set a minimum standard that if not met, led to malnutrition and potential diseases associated with not having needed elements in our bodies.
For example, a lack of Vitamin C might lead to scurvy, a lack of Vitamin D might cause rickets and so on.
In other words, the MDA set a standard to avoid disease.

The Recommended Daily Allowance sets the standard to maintain health—what you need to stay healthy under normal conditions.
What if you have a high level of physical activity?
What if you are under severe stress?
What if you don’t get enough sleep?

You get the picture.
Under any number of conditions, the RDA may not be enough.
You may need to supplement even more.

One last recommendation—if you need to lose weight, drink a glass of water before you eat. It will help curb your appetite and hydrate you at the same time, which will help to flush you out.

YOUR SECRET WEAPON—TAKE A FREE DAY

It’s almost impossible to eat right every day. We get tired of the grind and want to indulge ourselves.
Go ahead.
Do it.

It’s okay to cheat—but only one day per week.
We call it the Free Day.
Pick one day and eat whatever you want—without restriction.

Indulge yourself.
Have some fun.
Munch it up!

By having a Free Day, you have a goal to look forward to.
It makes it so much easier to stay on track with proper nutrition.
As human beings, we need to be rewarded for our efforts. That’s what the Free Day is all about.

You take excellent care of your body for six days, then get one day to gorge your senses and feast away on your favorite foods.

This simple method will truly work.
Pick your day and celebrate your progress.

After all, a little spontaneity also helps keep us young.

TOP SECRET BENEFIT:

As you improve your eating habits, over the course of time you will find that even on Free Day you will shy away from excess fat, sugar and salt. Congratulations!
Reward yourself in other ways.
Take some time for you, a long walk with a loved one, a bubble bath, a nap, a shopping spree for new clothes, a movie.
Enjoy your weekly victory.
You deserve it!

KEEP YOUR CASH!!!

A popular myth often suggests that eating healthy costs too much.
Not true at all.
In fact, a healthy diet will almost without exception lower your monetary expenditures.

First, by eating less, you spend less.
Second, raw foods, for the most part, cost less than packaged foods.
Third, healthy eating will promote better health.
You will have less physical challenges, less visits to doctors, lower medical bills—not to mention the lost time taken up by healthcare issues.

Without a doubt, a healthy diet will save you money in many ways.
As we all know, at the end of the day, without our health, what do we have?

The DOCTOR'S IN!!

1) I already know that I'm supposed to eat fruits and vegetables and not too much protein--what makes the YoungSlim program different or special?

The YoungSlim Lifestyle doesn't just tell you what not to eat and what you should eat it is the only lifestyle program that holds your hand in the process by giving you a coach 24 hours a day 7 days a week in full color streaming video. We educate you on nutrition, sleep, exercise, stress management as well as diet. We also have many physicians that are trained in our methods that are providing lifestyle training and supervision to patients across America. Our program isn't just about weight. It is about staying young and feeling that way. We desire you to have the quality of life you deserve. Anti-Aging and Wellness are the nucleus of what the YoungSlim Lifestyle is all about.

2) I heard that a lot of doctors are offering the YoungSlim Lifestyle in their offices. How does that work and is it any better than doing the online course?

Yes, there are many doctors that are trained and teaching their patients the lifestyle changes that the YoungSlim Lifestye stands for. The patient simply makes an appointment and, in addition to the online course, he or she gets professional supervision, CD's to listen to, a workbook to complete and a food diary to list all that is eaten. The patient is then scheduled to a number of periodic visits for weigh in, measurements and case review. In my opinion, it is better many times and for many patients to have professional supervision while trying to lose weight and keep it off. It is not what someone teaches you that creates change in your life. Many times it is the coaching and accountability to another that transforms our lives not to mention circumventing any possible physical side effects from a possible medical problem.

3) My back often hurts when I first get up in the morning. What do you recommend I do to alleviate the pain and change that?

There could be a variety of reasons for this from the bed you sleep on to something more serious. I would advise that you see your doctor to rule out any possible neurological/disc related problems if it has persisted in this manner for more than several weeks. There are also a variety of exercises to give someone to alleviate muscular pain but it is always safer to be sure nothing else is going on in your body first. These flexability exercises will be given to a patient who sees a YoungSlim trained health professional after an initial exam should it be cleared for you to do.
